I don't know about that epic game... The first bad omen was the presenters mic glitching up. Then the final boss in the demo level gets stuck in the corner disappears and leaves the main character floating around in the air. Should have never brought their game out in that shape. Even Cliffy B just stood there saying "can you believe that."

This last unannounced title has got to be something from Rare. Maybe Perfect Dark 3?

Overall, a very impressive showing by MS. They hit on all fronts - big fall hits (MW2), some great exclusives (Crackdown2, LFD2), Halo, and some really impressive games (Splinter Cell & Alan Wake).

I'm really impressive how many features these consoles have compared to even a generation ago. Back then, I was impressed we could play a DVD, and now the features are endless.

I'm definitely impressed. I've tracked all the videos down and here are my stand out moments:

- Project "milo" & Netal. This looks crazy. If any of that is realtime you have to wonder where we'll be in 10 years. Maybe less. The tech far surpasses anything wii has to offer and you aren't tethered to anything either. There was some lag on a few demos but being a late 2010 release i expect that to at least be cleared a little. It makes me think though that games consoles will be very important in changing our home devices and may even take over our stand-alone stuff (cable box/dvd/br players etc) and then use this completely wireless input device to control them. I smiled when the girl in the demo said "play movie". This shit will definitely feature in next gen consoles in some capacity. I'm sure of it.

- Forza3. just awesome. The gameplay vids from the show floor will likely stun, because every Forza player knows that Forza's real strength is the dynamic nature of the car handling. Add the huge campaign, decals and car details such as damage and tire deformation on turns... The gameplay vid i saw on blimblim's site looked insane. Seriously. It's very hard to find faults. GAF found a few polys missing on a gearstick. Yes. THAT'S how good it looks.

- Alan Wake. FUCK i saw gameplay footage from the press conf. It looks CRAZY. Shits on RE5. Not sure it's as atmospheric as silent hill but it was creepy as fuck. Especially when he was out of ammo and SHOIFTED the demon with a flare The graphics looks crazy too. For some reason the world looks massive. Yep, a special game, exclusive for the 360, finally. There's not many "labor of love" titles like this for the 360, so it's nice when they come along.

- Splinter Cell Conviction. Wow. I'm saying wow not so much at the graphics but at the style. It oozes it. naysayers owned. Hard. The game looks like jason bourne crossed with jack bauer. How the fuck can anyone complain? It's in safe hands too. can't wait.

Those were my main ones. I didn't even mention L4D2, beatles rockband (love the beatles), crackdown 2 (loved the original), MW2 etc etc

Games are getting fucking ridiculous. This is by far the best generation of gaming ive ever seen. I wish they had some of this shit when I was growing up and had more time to play.

After playing the DS tech demos, I was a lot more positive than you were, but I was expecting the worst. Funny thing is, the tech demos were better than the actual DS games shown, like Mario 64 DS and Metroid Prime Hunters. access ingame PSP & join friend.
wait.
walk with friend to cinema-plex.
watch sony trailer, because you still can't watch movies of your hardrive with friends across the world. you can't watch sky/netflicks with friends across the world. the voice chat in home is button activated and barely works so good luck arranging 8 friends to meet in home (even though there's nothing to do in there, still).

for giggle, here's the steps needed to party with friends to watch a movie/play a game:

hit the guide button.
go to friends list.
"join party?". YES.
"join game/media?" YES PLEASE.
fin.

it's actually kinda ridiculous you comparing this to HoME. HoME is embarrassing. XBL has sleighed it with party mode. And, along with instant 1080p films it just got better.

Probably the same way that GameTrailers "pulls off" HD videos. HD resolution at a really low bitrate. There's no other way to compensate for users on a really lowspeed connection.
