I literally fell asleep during the conference it was so fucking boring. I woke up just in time to see the GT5 video, which looked awesome. Reading over reports from the conference, doesn't seem that I missed much.

Was there a single megaton? Any surprise exclusive that people actually care about?

:rollin @ Hans

MS shows FM3 in-game cockpit view with rollover crashes.

Sony shows GT5 with a fender bender and Hans pops a boner.

Must suck to be forced to like inferior games. :kerry
You are fucking crazy. Forza has a cartoony, somewhat awkward feel to its realistic approach to racing while Gran Turismo has always nailed it on the head. What the fuck is wrong with you?

And Gran Turismo 5 looks 100 times better, especially if you watched the HD conference.

Oh, and I hate Sony :btw

I certainly hope it isn't finished, because the presentation the other day showed quite a few rough edges.
The camera is probably ready but the programs they showed were thrown together in a couple of months. Developers are just yesterday receiving the cameras for development purposes.

MS can still release the camera in early 2010 if they felt the need I'd assume. Let you talk to your console and flip through the menus and that stuff that you can't do with Wii and Wii-ripoff.

the came is likely finished but i'm pretty sure the lag is software related.

cry some more border. the waggle was pathetic. they need to scarp it and ape microsoft. stat. fingertip recognition tech is the future. no need for a fuckin controller when you can point and the dot appears on screen. no need for a controller when you can say "on" or "play movie". want you face in the game? stand still and "click". signs you in when you're infront of the screen because it recognises you. the list goes on.

really, if it wasn't for TRICO i'd have given Sony an A- too (way too much crap in that 2hours that was just plain awful or ill-advised. really? a £250 psp with no umd drive? wat? :lol). but sony's exclusives just a had more pop graphically.

funnily enough though i'd i'm looking for ward to actually PLAYING Alan Wake and TRICO the most out of everything. i bet they're deep and fun single players in their own way.

Is there a reason people seem to think that voice recognition is some kind of proprietary Microsoft technology? All you need for it is a microphone.....which every console has. I'm sure they'll all be working on it too, now that MS has shown their hand so early.

If developers just received their SDKs yesterday, it'd be asking quite a lot to ask them to whip up games in 6-8 months.

The TRICO was leaked a few weeks ago, anthony. Nothing new.

That was old footage

What they showed today was new footage, and it looked vastly improved.

Yes, the Trico trailer was new. Easily one of my most anticipated games of the next year. It's very nice to see them give it center stage during their E3 press conference.

Wait till HD footage shows up. It was a similar trailer, but it was upgraded tremendously from the previous one. The lighting upgrade was ridiculous.

Anyone else find MAG to be extremely generic and lacking a fun factor? It also didn't seem as if you were in the middle of a big 256 player battle.

I think it'll be shit. 64 players is shit. Why should 256 over the same networks be better?

If developers just received their SDKs yesterday, it'd be asking quite a lot to ask them to whip up games in 6-8 months.

Don't think anyone said that.. but is Sony going to have you use your webcam, and then a mic attachment, and then 2 waggle wands with balls on them? Dont think so.

The Project Netal factor is that it combines the 3d motion sensor, camera and mic with the processors into your system all at once. You are talking or motiong to your system and it does what you say.

It's an all-in-one solution to this next generation of interaction with media/content/setups, and its pretty cool.

Sony's setup was fun for games, just like WII is.. cause its a ghetto-ized version of WII with webcam.

I could be wrong, but I think the Project Netal will allow 360, and what will certianly be part of the core system with 720 (or whatever it is) to be turned on in the dark and played, or shit, you can be laying in bed, say ON, it turns on, say FACEBOOK, or GAME, or MOVIES, or whatever the hell you want.. this is NOT a competitor to WII/Sony WII WaggleBalls... this is something NEXT..

again, like I said.. developers and MS use this technology/setup right.. it will make WII look more a variation of golden tee or a regular controller.. I'm hoping MS makes this thing as powerful in terms of the GUI as they have implied, and as Bill GAtes has implied over the last year or two.

PROJECT NETAL will go to more than 360 is my guess, too.. PC's will have NETAL nad 360 will have NETAL, and ideally for MS.. Netal will become part of their OS and media strategy, and they'll have tv manufacturers put netal and 360 into that, etc.

you can be very excited about the Sony WII setup/competitor.. but dont let that distract from the clear difference that is Project Netal.. Project Netal is NOT aiming to makeit fun to shoot bows and arrows at knights in shining armor.. it has way bigger intentions/goals.

And that's why it fails.

It didn't make it look fun to do anything.

Sony and Nintendo's motion devices, however, do.

The Media stuff is not really supposed to be "fun".. It's about interacting in new and better ways with your community/network/media.

That is WAY more important and BIG than "fun ways to play a new WII game."

If you like what you saw with the waggle with PS3 today, you can do that all RIGHT NOW with the Wii! Nothing new.

Project Netal will have its time to get you pumped about fun..

As a gamer, no it's not.

And I don't see why anyone would care about the applications to the tech they showed.

No, you can't. Wii Motion Plus isn't out, plus from the looks of Sony's tech, it seems to be more refined than what Nintendo is offering. Both are great solutions, however,

Netal is not.

The web cam already has a microphone on it. EyeToy has had a mic since version 1.0.....why wouldn't this? There's no reason you can't use voice to control any console, other than voice recognition technology is kinda janky and requires a lot of processing overhead.

I don't see PC OEMs or TV manufacturers looking to add hundreds of dollars to production costs by adding Natal to their products (it's particularly a bad proposition for televisions). I'm sure every console maker will have their motion-controllers bundled in to their next system though.
