Nintendo will be teaming up with the remains of Tecmo's Team Ninja to bring us an all-new Metroid title for the Wii: Metroid Other M.

Due in 2010, the game looks a blend of first and third-person gameplay (clip showed much more third than first-person), with shooting sequences mixed with old-fashioned Metroid platforming.

The game also features some shiny, animated cutscenes, giving the series a somewhat fresher, newer look.

kotaku.

Probably the only game worth a second glance from Shittendo.

It's so...edgy :kerry

Looks like a reskinned Ninja Gaiden Black actually, if you compare the art direction.

Team Ninja and Nintendo are a perfect mix really. The graphics of Ninja Gaiden 2 weren't anything the Wii couldn't handle at 480p.

In all honesty this is one of the things I am most interested in that Nintendo has shown. I'd definitely play this. Looking forward to seeing more.

This looks like by far the best Nintendo game. Team Ninja is a skilled developer and a good choice to make an awesome game. Retro is a one hit wonder.

Thank God Itagaki is not working on this. Finally, Team Ninja is able (under Nintendo and Miyamoto's supervision) to make an excellent game. :D

im cautiously optomistic about this one. Im a huge metroid nut. Ive played and beaten nearly everyone and for some reason since the moment I played the original metroid on nes ive been in love with the game. Super metroid is in the top 3 all time favorite games. The art direction is... different. I always felt the prime series would have played better as a third person so I really want this to be good. hope fully nintendo keeps the reighns tight on team ninja and makes this one a winner

Some of that looks awesome...the Ridley stuff, running down the cave, and the Mother Brain fight at the end.

This COULD be good...hopefully.

I actually like the way it looks and I hated Metriod Prime. Really, the reason I like this and hate Prime goes hand in hand.

Prime lacked a contemporary format for displaying the story. In fact, there really WAS no story. No one to talk to. No one to interact with. Just walking around in rooms and hallways not doing much of anything until the occasional puzzle. :zzz

This looks like it'll be cinematic and fast-paced/action oriented. I can get behind that.

You fail at Metroid.

And :rollin at thinking Prime had no story or that it needed to tell its story through cutscenes and NPCs.
Fucking idiot.

MP1 was the most refreshing take on storytelling in a long time. It managed to detail a planet's history and chronicle current events while keeping with Metroid's traditional isolationist theme.

:lol

If I want to read the story, I'll buy the book.

Hey I understand that's the way movies were telling their stories at the turn of the previous century but I think its been about 100 years maybe they should try something with some more visual effects and dare I say some audio? Just a thought.

I enjoyed finding all the little things you could read but and i read alot of them but twords the end I remember not really caring anymore. But not having narrative was very true to metroid and super metroid.
