excerpt:

Quote

Shigeru Miyamoto: Well, the story setting for this Zelda is, of course, in a completely different era and Link is older than he was previously. More approaching adulthood. There is one hint. Maybe from the art work you can see that he's not holding a sword (...) That's all I'm going to say on that subject.

interesting - all the more because the game is guaranteed to place a large emphasis on Motion+ enhanced swordplay.

i believe the sword will be the title theme of the new Zelda, akin to the Ocarina of Time, the Phantom Hourglass and Majora's Mask.

nothing will ever hype me as much as that battle with Ganondorf did :drool

looking back, everything i associate with "the Gamecube" pales in comparison to the dreams we projected on that blank sheet of endless possibilties - The Dolphin :oh :bow

i wonder what happened to that walking tree Rebirth tech demo :lol

anyway, a good theory mentioned on GAF is that the blue character on Link's back, which is shaped a bit like a sword - could be the human manifestation, "the soul", of the sword.

that would certainly be Zelda'ish.

I'm very excited at the prospect of more of an adventure where you don't have the normal weapons that he has. Something where you find things and use what you can, maybe get a sword halfway through or something. I want to adventure...break the formula a bit.

Shiggy saying that it's going to be completely different excites me.

I'm not excited.
GORONS! DEKUSHIT! SAME OLD MUSIC! SAME SHIT NPC INTERACTION!

This isn't a revamp if they don't revamp all of the elements.

After watching Sony's motion tech demo where they showed off two 1:1 wand devices, I am incredibly excited about what that tech can do for games.

Imagine a Zelda game where the left wand controls the shield and the right wand controls the sword. Just watch Sony's tech demo for exactly how it would play.

Now, here's how I would design the combat mechanics around that game (camera in particular); it would not be a first person game. Instead, your normal camera view would be zoomed out like it normally is in zelda.

However, when you encounter a combat situation, you press a button and it will zoom in to a near over the shoulder view (think Gears of War, or something similar) basically giving you a better view of your 1:1 motion and attacks).

Combat for action games wouldn't be dogshit simple anymore where all you do is press a button to slash and that's it.

Here's my idea:
Let me handle the next zelda.
Its the only way to ensure ghibli-like art and timeless appeal ala mario galaxy, alttp, or smw.
