Gingrich 19% (-1)
Santorum 18% (+5)

Ron Paul doesn't have a shot until our 40+ body politic dies off.

Romney nominated.
Obama win.

In case you haven't noticed, Ron Paul is doing pretty fucking bad and we have to pretend this is just a step towards some long term victory. Meanwhile, war for all. Maybe we'll have a shot in 2020 with Gary Johnson or some shit. Just kidding.

Our country is still struggling with intellectually vapid concepts like the "sanctity of marriage", "democracy", and believes that the Muslim Brotherhood is on the cusp of Bolshevikking the US government. Do you think they give a shit about whatever the fuck Ron Paul is talking about? :lol

Our old people are more than willing to ship kids off to war and choke under trillions of debt in exchange for some social security.

WSJ economist: Ron Paul's 0% income tax would be world's greatest job creator

Quote

During the January 16th debates in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Presidential candidate Ron Paul laid down a bombshell by advocating his goal of gradually lowering the personal income tax to 0%, while at the same time shrinking government and finding new sources of revenue for Washington to use to perform its duties. In response to this, economist and Senior editor for the Wall Street Journal not only agreed that Congressman Paul's plan was feasible, but it would also be the greatest job creator for a nation in the history of the world.

For once a stupid ignorant conservatard is right.

Government educates the population so it creates a functional workforce something that would be impossible otherwise and creates (partly) educated citizens that aren't complete animals like uneducated people tend to be, government creates infrastructure to move the products the corporations libertardians love so much create, government protects us from crime not only by policing but also by ensuring that the MILLIONS of poor don't become so desperate that they plunge the country in crime and anarchy. Government protects us from harmful situations by testing the products and natural resources that we eventually interact with or consume and could have catastrophic results for thousands of people. Government not only makes any nation successful but also saves that nation from many dangers every single day.

Extremists like far right nutjobs would like us to oppose those protections and let greed and money decide who should be protected and what we should be protected from. Educated people who aren't from backwards hillbilly states know better.

Might not work out how you envision it. At least initially.

With the absence of usps workers small businesses that rely upon snail mail payments would suddenly be in the lurch as they struggle to find a new method to get their money. Quite a few would go under as a result of such a payment shift. I certainly don't see ups or fedex stepping up to the plate of cheap letter delivery.

Elderly that live off social security would no longer have somebody sending them payments. Grandma would have to move in with the kids, if they let her. Homeless elderly might be a reality for a while during the transition.

If we get rid of state and city government jobs there goes the water, sewage, and garbage collection for most areas.

That's the immediate effects I can think of off the top of my head. Other problems would crop up and if you are really getting rid of all government jobs then the military goes with it. Suddenly a Red Dawn scenario of invasion of the USA becomes a lot closer to reality.

Does the USPS even cost the government that much relatively?
They probably get more money from Netflix and junkmailers than the federal budget.

Yes and the USPS has been bleeding money for quite awhile.

From my perspective as a business man. I wouldn't rely on any corporation on earth to do what the USPS does for the same price. So what if it bleeds a little money and the workers actually get pensions? Persih the thought!

Isn't it kind of stupid for Riggers to be worried about the USPS (ie: something right out of the US constitution), when the bulk of the budget is in three extraconstitutional, obsolete, broken social programs (SS, Medicare, Medicaid)?

Also, from wikipedia:

Quote

The USPS has not directly received taxpayer-dollars since the early 1980s with the minor exception of subsidies for costs associated with the disabled and overseas voters.

I guess I just have a soft spot for them. I like knowing if someone tampers with my USPS mail they go to federal prison (vs. nothing happening if they tamper with my UPS/Fedex/etc package). No one fucks with my pizza coupons and credit offers.

In a Senate floor speech, Sanders focused on the White House's newfound interest in Social Security as a target for cuts. "Where does this come from?" Sanders asked. "The president understands that Social Security hasn't contributed one nickel to our deficit. In fact, Social Security has a $2.6 trillion surplus today, can pay out every benefit owed to every eligible American for the next 25 years. Social Security is funded by the payroll tax, not by the U.S. Treasury."

Yes Sanders, like many in Washington, is proficient in playing semantics and technicalities. Leave it to a US Senator to literally state a program is insolvent while he's defending it.

Here's some info on expenditures for fiscal year 2012 if you're interested:

lol, are you talking about removing the social security tax from my paycheck when you cut SS?...in which case the budget remains unchanged (read: not fixed), or are you going to continue to take social security money from my paycheck, but cut the program and spend that money on something else? :scratch
